Longs Peak

Kevin is a crazy wild kid and for that, I am grateful and frightened at the same time. I had to work Thursday but Kev had the day off and he wanted an adventure to say the least. He is always so out-going and daring. So him and a guy he works with, Caleb, woke up at 4:30am to hike Longs (the northern most fourteener in Colorado and a difficult one at that). Of course, they couldn't just be like normal people and hike. NO. They went a crazy way, with ice axes and crampons. With ropes and trad gear. So proud. Awesome pictures. My heart pounded the entire day with images of them falling 14000 feet to their death. And next time, I wanna go! But seriously, these pictures are up there in coolness.

*Kevin will kill me for stealing his pictures without him knowing but I had to share*

Little talks

Of Monsters and Men has been a favorite of mine lately. I love their voices and vibe. I just wanna dance when they play over my computer. Lovely. This song is by far their most popular and if you are young and ever turn on the radio, surely you've heard it. Oh I love them all. Mountain Sound, Lakehouse...

Little talks. I love my little talks with people. My residents who I take care of. And my husband.

Here's to having a million little talks this weekend. And dancing whenever possible!

Saturday

In case you didn't know, surely you do cause I mention it in every post but I love where I live! Why? Because on a day like Saturday when Husband got off work at 5pm and it doesn't get dark until 9, we can go climbing and camping, all within a 20 minute drive.

It was so fun. We went climbing after work with some friends (I took my first lead fall of about 5 feet for all you climbers out there!) and then made brats and ate ridged chips and ranch. Oh it was so delicious. A rare treat.

The best part about the night. We went car camping at the same climbing location. No need to hike in 5 miles. It was easy with no complaining and the stars out here are beyond imagination. Such a perfect night and we still had enough time to wake up with the sun and drive back home where Kev got ready and had to be at work at 8am. Gotta love Saturdays where work and play can both happen!

dreamer

Do you ever dream of things you can do... like big life changing, career changing things? I do all the time. Not because I don't love my job because i totally do but what about everything else? There are a million things I would be happy doing. Just a few like:

  • opening the pula pizzeria, kinda like a napolese with delicious options and fresh ingredients
  • starting a farm and growing all our own food and then turning around and using that in our restaurant
  • helping inner city kids succeed and get out of the trap that our society has forced them into
  • sew a million different things and sell them (pay off all my school debt with that one for sure)
  • go back to school and challenge myself... to be someone so great and knowledgable
  • getting a new little puppy with the puppy spots on its belly

starting a little family while we work the farm and i go back to school...are all those things possible at once? I strongly doubt it. More than anything I want little Pulas running around, causing chaos and joy everywhere they turn. Doesn't that sound like fun!

This past Sunday I went to The Tallest Man on Earth live taping of a radio show (I didn't know it till i got there but it was cool. It's called e-town and they have podcasts and play on NPR a lot) and it was awesome. He has such a unique voice and he is the shortest, skinniest man i think I have ever seen. But his voice live, when people are silent just watching and listening, is so moving... It's incredible. Husband was out of town this past weekend so he couldn't make it but I went with some of our friends! SO MUCH FUN!!! I will leave you with one of his songs. As for me, I will probably all be a dreamer and in due time, try all these little dreams out one way or another.

summer days are here!

Don't you just love those summer days. I literally saw my husband one day before 10pm last week and that was thursday!! Trail Ridge Road has finally opened all the way, from Estes Park to Grand Lake. I had never been on the other side and it was lovely. We just drove and stopped like tourists, then drove again all afternoon. The views are like none other.

Driving reminded me why I love the Pula so so very much. We had such an easy going time and I can have fun with him anywhere. Did I mention I had the very best artichoke, pesto, smoked cheese sandwich of my life...nom nom.

Take a look
[I didn't condense my pictures cause I wanted you to see the whole thing...WARNING: there are a lot of pics]

continental divide
In the clouds... Longs peak and others

so many lakes tucked away in the mountains

Enjoyed on lunch on the dock on this picture perfect lake with lots of little cabins and mountains.. I could live here.

up up and away

I saw this and couldn't resist... doesn't it look like it leads to a wonderful, mysterious place. If I was into trail running, this trail would be perfect!

Can you see Husband out there?

At the top, there is lots of alpine tundra, where trees don't grow cause it's too cold...and that road was awesome.

Hard to show but the road drops off on both sides..

So delicious...Words can't even describe. I think it might become a weekly treat.
