No title.

It's that time of year when we really start missing our family around this house. I start dreaming of baking cookies and sitting by the fire, watching movies and sipping hot cocoa. Seriously, does it get much better then Christmas movies? We've always had a tradition of watching Christmas Vacation. We would always go to my aunt and uncles for thanksgiving and bring a dish. Thank goodness. I can't imagine those of you who can cook up a whole Thanksgiving meal. That's dedication and truthfully, nothing sounds worse then planning every dish perfectly so they are all hot at meal time. Toats to you all. I'm talking ten dishes because my Thanksgiving has nothing less. And the desserts. OMGoodness.

This year we won't be going home for the holidays. Kev and I will be celebrating with our good friends, the Carlbergs (or soon to be) in Denver. We plan on watching football and taking full advantage of their fenced yard since our dogs will be with us. Can't wait.

The other day I was talking with my mom and she mentioned that she missed my blog. Granted, I don't even know if blog is the correct word for this little page of mine but a photo book, I'd agree. I guess I never thought about all our friends and family all over the globe wandering what we are up to. So here is my new attempt to stay true to updates and more then anything, photos. Photos of our memories so we don't forget and more so, so one day our kids know how truly brave we were to follow our dreams and live the life we've always dreamed of. The good and the bad:)

P.S. I'm a horrible writer outside of nursing progress notes. It's not my strong suit so I apologize. Can I also say babies, babies, babies. It seems everyone we know is having kids left and right. It doesn't help that they all look so cute and perfect. People, stop the madness cause you're making it awfully hard on this girl.

My best friends minus a few. Celebrating baby!! I went home for that one.

A place called Dunrovin that most only dream of. I can't explain it except somethings are worth quitting your job for.  All of these people are so special to Kevin and me.

More photos to come.

This one time on Easter...

Easter was awesome! I'm late with this little post but what can I say, I'm busy and not very motivated to update this small corner of the world wide web. Easter in the mountains. Snow was still everywhere (actually, our snowiest month was April with 15 inches May 1st) and the mountains were calling us. So we went.

We spent it with dear friends. Snowshoed and skied/ boarded. It always amazes me to be out in Gods great creation. What a lovely universe we have so treat it with care because some of us like to play amongst it! Cheers!

Do you see two dots to the left of the big rock on the right. The boys made their way up that couloir to snowboard down it.

A pretty cool story I came across and had to share! It's about a 102 year old woman celebrating her awesome birthday. Why don't I do cool things like this?

I can't upload it correctly but here's a link to the short video.

4 years old today

I logged in today and had several drafted posts, one of them being Callahan's 4th Birthday!! Here is what I wrote. (Should have been posted March 12)

Callahan is 4 years old today! It's crazy that he has been with us that long and survived! Granted, it doesn't take much for dogs to get along but still, it's a big deal! I remember when my parents tried to talk me out of it. I remember thinking I was mad when he was two months old, what was I thinking that I wanted this thing of an animal. He was wild and loved to chew. A 3 mile walk was never enough and he always wanted more. He would chase a squirrel or a deer in a heartbeat (who are we kidding, he still does that but this time it's Elk and Bear!)

But folks, the dog schools and long walks paid off because now he is so pleasant. Sure, sometimes he gets excited and barks way too much and his car riding skills have decreased since his younger years but we love him! And now he was a little sister to teach and train. Best four years of our lives.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUP!
[Look how cute he was below]
When he was a good rider... quiet and attentive. He was dressed for his first Halloween!

YURT? yes please

WOW! People, yurts are just the best. Can I admit that?

We spent a Sun, Mon, Tues at the yurt and a good time was had by all. We stayed at the "Clark Peak Yurt"" which sleeps 9. It also has an outhouse; so pleasant in the middle of the night in 5degree weather. I really kid because just having the experience of using an outhouse in the cold is pretty cool. Talk about appreciative. It's amazing that people used to always use an outhouse. So happy we live in this day and age.

So we got arrived to the parking lot admist 18inches of fresh powder the night before. Our friend, Dave, had his snowmobiles which made the 2.8 mile hike a breeze. It did get stuck a few times and that was trouble but it was still fun to ride them. Snowmobiles were only allowed to mile 2 so we hiked in the rest of the way with all of our gear.

We spent our free time hanging out in the yurt, eating and playing games. We went hiking the day two, looking for some good snowboarding. I didn't even bring my board on this hike because the powder was too deep for a beginner. At least for me. It was still so fun to get out and snowshoe around. The entire area was gorgeous. The guys found some good tree areas to board. The big, open bowls are too dangerous after that much fresh snow. Avalanches had been a frequent occurrence up near cameron pass and no one was going to chance it.

Many, many pictures are below of our adventures. I wanted to put them in order but blogger makes it soo difficult. If you read the captions, they will make sense!

What I basically want to say is if you've ever thought about taking a cool trip but never did, you really should. It was awesome. Here is the link to our yurt. They have a whole system all over Colorado, winter or summer!

Kev practicing his beacon skills. Yes, the snow was that deep.
The first night we were there, we witnessed the alpine glow.

The outhouse... so stinky.
This is the hike in portion. I was so excited to get there!
If you've never seen a split board, there is it... opposite sides facing of course.
